Patent protection

Patents are industrial property rights. They are used to protect technical inventions. The protection of the patent begins with the day of the application. Even with the application, the function of the patent remains secret for 18 months. Only then is the publication in the register of the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA).

The protection essentially arises from the unintended subsequent economic use of the invention by third parties during the patent term.

The patent term is 20 years and begins on the date of application.

To protect their products and, above all, to prevent unauthorized key duplication, locking system manufacturers regularly have to come up with innovations.
