Picking protection

Picking protection is a protective device that prevents the query positions (locking pins, tumbler pins) in the cylinder with a tool can be brought into the correct position and to be able to rotate the rotor of the locking cylinder.
By turning the rotor, the lock can be relocked and the door opened.

Picking is the "intelligent opening" of locking mechanisms with special tools (electric or hand pick). In this process, the pin tumblers are struck simultaneously by means of needle-like tools. The different spring constants of the pin springs cause the pins to oscillate at different speeds. With a little skill, this allows the rotor to be rotated non-destructively. The door can thus be opened non-destructively.
